Katy Flood, LSW
I am a licensed social worker based in Colorado. My journey into the field of therapy began with my undergraduate studies at the University of Vermont, followed by earning my master’s degree in social work from the University of Denver, where I specialized in clinical mental health. I was born and raised in Chicago, where I developed my passion for working in the mental health field. I am deeply committed to working with both teenagers and adults across a broad spectrum of challenges. I focus on addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, family dynamics, life transitions, identity, and relationship concerns. I have had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those with Autism and traumatic brain injuries (TBI).
I believe that therapy should be as unique as each individual, and I tailor my approach to fit the specific needs of my clients. I am passionate about exploring the intricate connection between the body and the mind, which is why I incorporate somatic therapy techniques into my practice. In my work, I utilize a range of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), attachment-based therapy, mindfulness training, and motivational interviewing. Each of these approaches helps in addressing various aspects of mental and emotional well-being, fostering a supportive environment for growth and healing.
I genuinely enjoy collaborating with people from all walks of life and am dedicated to creating a therapeutic space where every client feels heard, valued, and understood.
