Mel Sokolow, LPCC

My name is Mel Sokolow (he/him), and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Colorado Denver. I come to this work with experience across every level of care, including acute psychiatric hospitalization, residential, partial hospitalization (PHP), and intensive outpatient (IOP) for eating disorders, and outpatient therapy.

In therapy, I seek to create a space rooted in warmth, curiosity, and compassion, where we can work together to better understand your unique way of navigating the world without judgment or shame. I believe our coping strategies and patterns develop for meaningful reasons within the contexts of our lives, even when they no longer serve us in the ways they once did. I feel that therapy is most meaningful when it addresses the root causes of suffering rather than only managing symptoms. My hope is that our work becomes a place where all parts of you are met with kindness, respect, and genuine care, while also helping you expand your capacity to make sustainable, healthy choices, meet your needs more effectively, and experience greater relief and connection in your life.

I work with clients navigating both recent and longstanding trauma, LGBTQIA+ identity exploration, neurodivergence (including Autism, ADHD, unmasking work, and burnout recovery), a wide variety of eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety, depression, addiction, attachment and personality disorders, and bipolar disorder. My approach is collaborative, individualized, and rooted in the belief that you are the expert in your own life. I draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed interventions, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and somatic and sensorimotor approaches to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs and goals.
